ABOUT ME

Karla Joan is an actor & singer originally from Puerto Rico. As an only child she grew up putting on shows for her parents. She later decided to develop her love of performing into a career. She studied Classical and Contemporary Voice at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico. Karla Joan went on to receive a BFA in Acting from the University of Puerto Rico. She later moved to New York City to study Musical Theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

Karla Joan is a proud Latina who dreams of making her mark in the industry as a Plus Sized brown woman. She hopes to be a voice for the hispanic community and bring her culture’s stories to life.

When Karla Joan isn’t onstage, she is most definitely at the nearest movie theater, searching for the best mofongo in the city or dancing salsa
